Bible that belonged to Reverend James Madison Gardner. Book has brown cover with raised areas embossed in gold with 'J.M. Gardner' in front center. Gardner was transferred to the Methodist Episcopal Church in Belle Fourche, SD in January 1899. The Bible contains a history of the translations of the bible, a history of the books of the Bible, a phonetic dictionary of the Bible, a complete history of the coins and denominations of money used in the Bible, a history of the false gods or examples of idol worship in the ancient and modern worlds, and a center section with family names and significant dates. Bible is full of beautifully detailed wood cuts and lithographs. Many Gardner papers were found inside the bible. |
