Program for commencement for graduates of Deadwood High School in 1919. The ceremony was held at the Deadwood Opera House. The class had seventeen graduates, including Stanley Norman Nelson and Clarence Rudolphus Zoll. See People section for a list of graduates. |
Administrative/Biographical History |
Stanley Nelson was born in 1902 in Deadwood, South Dakota. James and Elsa Marie Jensen Nelson were his parents. He was a jeweler, working first for Thorpe in Deadwood making Black Hills Gold Jewelry, and after moving to Rapid City in 1946, working for Landstrom’s Black Hills Gold Creations. Dorothea and Stanley and their children Norman and Carlyn lived on 14 Van Buren St, next door to the Adams Family. Stanley died in 1975 in Rapid City, South Dakota |

Materials were found in Norman Nelson’s home in Rapid City, by his sister Carlyn Jervis, after his passing in April 2009. The materials were then donated by Carlyn Jervis on November 17, 2009. |
