Cover letter with an attached report on the nature of the ore in the Two Johns Property. C.E. Dawson was worried about the evidence of oxidized ores in the mine, and Joseph P. Connolly stood by his report. The Report is titled "The Nature and Occurrence of the Ore in the Lower Workings of the Two Johns Mine". |

Carleton Dawson was born in Iowa in 1872. He came to Deadwood in 1894, was a mining engineer and manager for the Trojan Mining Company, later the Bald Mountain Mining Company. Carleton was on the board of directors for the Franklin hotel. Carleton passed way in 1953 in Rapid City, South Dakota. |

Materials were found in Norman Nelson’s home in Rapid City, by his sister Carlyn Jervis, after his passing in April 2009. The materials were then donated by Carlyn Jervis on November 17, 2009. |
