From page 75 of Scrapbook, 1980-81-82 [2023.009.009] Handwritten letter on back of copy of newspaper clipping. Clipping titled Laughlin participates in national stage event; receives an award. Clipping concerns Don Laughlin, one of Fort Meade's entrants in the National Music Competition for Veterans, who won first place in the Country-Western division and participated in the National Winner's Stage Show at Coatesville, PA VAMC. He also won the Congeniality Award. Includes photo with Alan Johnson, chief, Recreation Service. Letter is to Raetta, Sorry it was such a zoo! Trip to PA was the self-image boost needed. He is playing at Gold Street Main, [with schedule]. Also has Discovery Travel out of Chicago in every Thurs for next 6 weeks with a bus load for tours. Still @ Ft. Meade's Chaplain Service. The materials are owned by the Lead-Deadwood Hospital since the records creation. In 2023, the Lead-Deadwood Hospital agreed to allow Deadwood History, Inc. to scan some records to expand access to the materials to researchers. The Lead-Deadwood Hospital still owns the originals. Deadwood History, Inc. only has digital copies. |

Digital copies of scrapbooks and other materials can be accessed at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center. However, the original scrapbook is in the possession of the Lead-Deadwood Hospital. |
