Title |
"The Franklin Hotel, Main Street, Deadwood, S.D." |
Date |
1903-1905 |
Description |
Photograph taken from upper Main Street, looking north towards lower Main. Featured prominently is the Franklin Hotel, which is probably newly built in this photo. A flag above the hotel proclaims it as "The Franklin." The second City Hall and the Deadwood Theater are to the right. Farther down the dirt street is a star with the word "Welcome" in the center suspended above the street and past that, several US flags are hanging. Small spruce trees have been erected on balconies for some kind of celebration. |
