A Montgomery Ward building and a ferris wheel can be seen in the background. 333-12: The Homestake Band performing in the Days of 76 Celebration parade in Deadwood, 1956. On the left hand of the photograph you can see the Black Hills Cafe, The Mint Cafe, and The Fairmont Hotel. On the right hand of the photograph you can see signs for Ayres Hardware and the Ayres Hotel. Sharp Bits September 1956, Vol. 7 No. 8 pg 16: "Time Rolls Back to the historic days of 1876. It is fitting for Homestake's Band to take an active part in this annual Days of '76 parade for Homestake was discovered that very year by the Manuel Brothers." 333-13: The Homestake Band posed in the grass during the Days of 76 Celebration, 1953. 333-15: The Homestake band on parade on Main Street during the Days of '76 Celebration. On the left side of the photograph you can partially see the Franklin Hotel, The Elks Club, Butler Jewelry, the Bodega, the Buffalo Bar, and the Fairmont Hotel in the background. Sharp Bits November 1958 Vol. 9 No. 10 pg. 7 "Homestake Band -- About 1929 or 1930 - The weekly band conversts were held on the compus adjoining Central School building and the old Lead High School building for many years. We have managed to identify sone of the members as follows (but not necessarily in order). How well can you do? Ray Rockhold, Ed Murray, Lloyd Hillberg, E.O. Berg, Jack Daniels, Robert Koontz, Joe Dunstan, Bill Morcom, Bert Coolidge, Henry Elster, Albert Kulpaca, Sam Tretheway, Charile Cousins, Clyde Rowland, Marion Rowland, Frank Cetto, Herbert Rowland, Wm. John Mitchell, Y. Kulpaca, Rashleigh Ball, Jack Davis, Henry Phillips and Charlie Rossio." 333-29: The Homestake Band playing in front of the Lead City Bakery on Labor Day, 1951. 333-30: The Deadwood Municipal Band playing in a circle next to a street before the Labor Day Parade in Lead, South Dakota, 1960. Sharp Bits October 1960 Vol. 11 No. 9 pg 3: "A pre-parade concert was played by the Deadwood Municipal Band on the Homestake Parking Lot, in Lead, Labor Day morning. They also marched and played in the parade, later that morning, heading the variety section. Their appearance at our annual celebration has become a tradition." 333-31: The Homestake Band on parade. 333-32: The Homestake Band in the Labor Day parade in Lead, South Dakota, 1956. Sharp Bits September 1956, Vol. 7 No. 8 pg 9: "Labor Day Parade - September 3rd, in Lead. The band marches and plays for the "home folks." Their peppy music roused a warm glow in the crowd despite the chilly day." 333-33: The Homestake Band on parade, 1954. Pioneer Sporting Good Store can be seen in the background. 333-37: The Homestake Band on parade during the Belle Fourche Roundup, 1956. Sharp Bits September 1956, Vol. 7 No. 8 pg 8: "First Appearance of the season was in Belle Fourche July 5th. Here's the Homestake Band marching in the Black Hills Round-Up parade, which marketed the beginning of a busy 28th, year. 333-38: The Homestake Band on parade in Belle Fourche, 1964.
