Series of photographs of electric blasting. 251-1: Two men putting explosives in the mine walls. 251-2: Electric blasting; Nedalla/White, March 1953. 251-3: Testing a blasting circuit with a galvonometer. 3950', Harold Werth, April 1954. 251-4: Loading holes primed with No. 6 blasting caps and safety fuse. The dynamite is firmly tamped into place with the wooden loading stick. 2600', Harvey Cox and Doyle Le la Cheur, 1954. 251-5: Two men loading holes with explosives. 251-8: A drift round drilled out and loaded with electric blasting caps. The tags seen are fastened to each connecting wire and indicates the "delay" cap in the primer. Note the 4 large (2 1/2" dia.) holes in the center of the face with 4 small holes around them; this is called the burn out or the "burn." The dynamite and caps will be exploded with electricity funneled by a battery, 1954. 251-9: Wallace Rindels about to push on the plunger on the generator blasting machine in the number 52 stope on the 4,100 foot level. Sharp Bits, May 1954, Vol. 5, No. 4 pg. 16 "Ready to Blast - Wallace Rindels is about to give a stong sharp push on the plunger of the generator blasting machine. By doing so, electric current is generated in this magneto-type machine adn it fires the primer, which in turn detonates the explosives.
