Description |
Two sided rectangular badge. Top bar on front has cream background with pair of shaking hands and the arms covered in blue sleeves. Outline of bar is lobed and roughly rectangular with top and bottom centers arched and a filigree pattern around edge. Front has red ribbon with white smaller ribbon that has crossed American flags and a medallion edged in silver metal and on cream background is a pick, a sledge hammer, and a chisel. Bottom of badge has gold metal fringe. In gold lettering on red ribbon near bottom is, "Terry's Peak Miners Union, No. 5, W.F. of M. Terry, South Dak. Organized Aug. 12, 1891 ". Back ribbon on badge is black and has silver writing which reads, "In Memoriam, Terry's Peak Miners Union, No. 5, W.F. of M. Terry, South Dak. Organized Aug. 12, 1891 " and in center of ribbon is a pick, and a shovel. Bottom fringe on back has silver metal twists. Stamped in back of top bar is, " The M.C. Lilley, & Co. Columbus OH.", and on back of front medallion is, " The Whitehead & Hoag Co. Newark N.J.". |
