Description |
Custom-woven from cream and dark green yarns. Features significant buildings from the early years of Lead, South Dakota. Buildings identified in pattern features, "THE NORTHWEST DEPOT 1901-1934 / CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH 1896 / GRIEF MANSION 1896-1933 / FIRST NATIONAL BANK 1903-1932 / LEAD HIGH SCHOOL 1896 / CITY HALL 1912 / HOMESTAKE OPERA HOUSE 1914-1984". Dates are for when the buildings were erected and, in some cases, destroyed. Mining tools in the four corners of a candlestick / lantern / ore cart, and a crossed pick ax , shovel, and gold pan. In the center, an image of the buildings for the Homestake Gold Mine above an overlying banner at bottom of center reading, "HOMESTAKE GOLD MINE / LEAD / SOUTH DAKOTA". Green and white fringe around the edges. Green pine cones and pine leaves for borders connecting corner images. |
