Description |
Part A: Constructed to look like a leather-covered book. Rectangular in shape. Sides covered with a black leather cover over steel end plates and the recessed box area shows a brass sheet made to look like pages. On front in gold letters is, "Miners & Merchants / Savings Bank / LEAD, S. DAKOTA.". On the spine edge in gold letters at top is, "SAVE / AND / HAVE/ FRANKLIN / VOL. 1". Bottom edge has a small round hole in near spine and next to circle is a long narrow slot opening. Top has a small round opening with a key hole slot which fits Part B. Stamped along top of pages near key hole is, "BANKERS U...ES CO. / SAN FRANCISCO U.S.A.". Stamped along long face of fake brass pages is the number, "637". B: Flat silver steel key cut from plate. Shaft has a wider rectangular area with shorter narrow rectangle peg with a cut out notch. Hole in handle. |
