Description |
Lap robe or carriage blanket made of horse hair. The one side of the blanket is light golden brown horse hair with a portion of the horse's mane running down the center. It is backed with thick, dark green wool or hair. The robe is edged with scalloped trim made of green felt. There is a paper tag sewn to one corner of the green backing. The tag is printed in black with an image of a bison standing on a rock and text that reads "MANUFACTURED / BY / DUBUQUE / TANNING & ROBE / COMPANY / OFFICE 36-38 [ILLEGIBLE] MAIN ST / DUBUQUE, IOWA / [illegible] / GRADE / TANNING / We guarantee our Tanning to be of the highest Standard. The Style and /Workmanship of Our Robes, Coats, etc are Superior to All Others." The front and back are tacked together at intervals with thread and circular pieces of red and green felt. |
