Description |
Light oak rectangular wood case with beveled feet attached to base at each corner. Front top center has a diamond shaped key guard with lock set into front on inside. Two piano hinges at back on each side. Tiered top edges. Hole drilled into right side of case for winding with Part B. Hinged lid has rectangular paper tacked to inside with a list of 10 songs. Paper shows images of cherubs playing instruments and at top left corner is shield image with white cross on red back ground. Bottom left shows image of shield with cross and text, "M / F / S / 18 / 16" and under shield is, " MARQUE DE FABRIQUE". Next to shield is a number, "No. 63764". Across top is typed and written text which reads, "10 Airs. PROGRAMME 7 1/2 Pouces". Inside has wood door missing glass center which covers player. Cylinder with tines sits on bottom attached to brass base. Left side has a lever with a plate that reads. "SWISS / REPEAT / CHANGE". Stamped on right bracket of cylinder is, "63764". Right side has a locking arm with a shield shaped plate that reads, "JACOT'S / PATENTED / SAFETY CHECK / SEPT. 22 1886". On right side covering winding peg is a plate with three patent dates and a lever through bottom section of plate and text on plate reads, "PATENTED / D.R.P. 33516 / 43585 / M / F / S / 18 / 16 / PLAY / STOP" with a shield and cross at center. Part B: Z shaped winding handle. Top bar is long hollow cylindrical brass tube with two notches cut into end that slide into and onto winding peg on right side of box. Short bottom handle has a cylindrical black brass grip with horizontal grooves cut into one end. |
