Description |
Corset worn under wedding dress worn by Mattie Gibson Welch on August 6, 1907. Corset is made of ivory ribbon and satin. Back of corset is pulled together with ivory colored ribbon threaded through metal gossets and tied in a bow. There is boning on either side of the gossets. The sides of the corset are also reinforced with boning. Between each section of boning are overlapping pieces of wide ivory ribbon. The front of the garment is held together by five metal fasteners. There is a bow at the top of the fasteners. The boning and fasteners at the front are lined with a soft suede like fabric. At the base of the metal fasteners on one side is a small metal knife shaped object. On the interior there is a fabric label that is embroidered in red with "H & W RIBBON GIRDLE". |
