Family Bible of the John and Permila Burnham family. The Bible is the second book of a two-volume set that was edited by Rev. William Patton and printed and published in 1856. The covers are black embossed leather and the pages are edged in gold. On the cover, in silver: "John and Permila Burnham". Inside toward the middle on specified pages are notations regarding family events, such as the date of John and Permila (Ward) Burnham's wedding, the names and dates of birth of their 10 children, and the dates or at least the names of the deceased children (8 names are listed). [These pages have been photographed.] Found inside were a lock of hair, dried leaves and a part of an 1872 Sunday School lesson, almost certainly for adults. |
