Series of historical photographs. 332-1: Men and a woman sitting in front of the building. The men appear to be balancing a beer on top of a bowling pin. There is writing on the building and there is a dog sitting next to a woman. Stamped on the back of the photograph is "James R. Harris" and his address in Lead, South Dakota. 332-2: Men posed in front of a building and children standing on the rod. There is a what appears to be a bowling alley in front of the people. One of the men is holding a sign. There are numbers written on the photograph and the people are identified on the back of the photograph from left to right: 1) Molitor 2) Beels 3) Rebsamen 4) Rodenhaus 5) Bickerheim 6) Mueller 7) Dairer 8) Kornesman 9) Schibert 10) Karcher 11) Baithke 12) Sassex 13) Smith 14) Randolp 15) Huerker 16) Treber 17) Jack Kogelyunge. Stamped on the back of the photograph is "James R. Harris" and his address in Lead, South Dakota. 332-3: A crowd of people watching an automobile race. 332-7: A person butchering two pigs, taken April 1, 1900. The person might be A.J. Nelson. 332-8: Photograph of a various buildings in a note. There is a note from 1971 that states "We do not believe this was anywhere in the Black Hills. D. Howe; to Mrs. F. Thompson from Fred Johnson. 332-9: Photograph of a family after a successful hunting trip. Men and women sit on the porch of a house holding guns and deer hanging over their heads. The photograph was property of Mrs. Kathleen D. Howe. Sharp Bits May 1966 Vol. 17 No. 4 pg 7: "Today's Nimrods may get a little jealous when they view this old time photo of what was a very successful "family hunt." Most of this happy few were carrying Winchester carbines but look at the "cannon" the young lady (center) is holding. Mother was probably wondering what she would do with all that venison!" 332-10: Five young boys standing in front of a house. 332-11: A group of men and a small child holding axes. 332-12: A woman sitting on a horse, and a man and a woman standing behind a white picket fence in front of a house. The photograph is captioned with "Our Western House // Red Cloud Nebr. // August 10th, 1888." 332-13: Men and children sitting on a what appears to be a boat on land. 332-14: Men and women standing in front of a building. There is a dog sitting on a chair and some of the men are holding guns. 332-15: A young child standing in front of a tree covered in snow. 332-16: Several out-of-focused people standing in a forest. 332-17: Two people standing in a forest standing in front of a small body of water. 332-18: Three men standing in front of a small body of water. 332-19: Three men standing in front of a small body of water. 332-20: Five men kneeling with guns under their prizes from a hunt. The animals appear to be deer and a moose. 332-21: Four men dressed in colonial costumes. The man on the far left is holding the American Flag and the man to his right and the man on the far right are holding drums, the man between the men holding drums is holding a wind instrument. 332-22: Men posed inside a saloon/bar. 332-23Map of Black Hills from a reconnaissance by Capt. William Ludlow Corps of Engineers, 1874. 332-24: Man standing in front of an automobile. 332-25: Seth Bullock and Chief Turning Bear shaking hands as another Native American looks on. The Native Americans are in full regalia. Bullock wears a long coat and hat. Photograph was taken by John Anderson of the Rosebud reservation. |
